Hello Chocolatier!
Thank you so much for spending time creating something for me. I’ve broken this letter down into general likes/dislikes, and then a short section on each fandom (which was copied into the prompt section of my sign-up).
The letter doesn’t cover everything that I like (My AO3 bookmarks may give you more ideas, but I’ve been meaning to update them because they’re currently a mess) and please don’t feel pressured to fit your creation to everything I like!
Thanks so much again for creating something for me! I’m so excited to see what you make!
Side Note: Historically, I’ve been uh... Terrible at actually reading exchange fics for months or even years after the fact. So, if I don’t leave kudos/comments right away, it’s not you, it’s most definitely me. At one point I was three years and nearly a dozen fics behind before I finally forced myself to catch-up at the end of 2020. While I’m currently caught up, my current record is three years between reveals and reading/writing a comment for my gift fic. I promise you a comment is coming, it just just take some time to arrive.
(Note: Most of this letter was copied from previous exchanges I’ve participated in.)
This one’s pretty subjective, but if we could stay away from overwhelming sadness and melancholy that would be great too., 2020 was a long year and it looks like the start of 2021 is joining it. For this reason, I’d also prefer not to receive dystopian/apocalypse AUs.
Sex-Related DNWs
Again, this is the first time I haven’t DNW’d all explicit sex, so please bear with me. Because I’m still trying to figure this section out, I’ve made my DNWs a bit broad to cover my bases. I figured since this was a relationship-focused exchange, this would work as a test run (even if most of the relationships I requested are platonic). None of my prompts are sex-related, and I’d prefer a fic where sex isn’t the main focus.
General Things I Like:Below are a few themes/tropes that I like that can be applied to any fandom. I read and enjoy a lot of fic, so I’ve tried to condense this into my core favorites. In general, I’m more interested in specific characters, character/relationship interactions, and themes, rather than the exact plot/AU, which is why I don’t have a ton of specific prompts in my letter.
Trust – I love content that focus on the trust and building of trust between two (or more) characters. People accepting the unconditional love and trust of another person and realizing it’s real is one of my favorite things. I don’t know if I can fully articulate how much I love of the emphasis of trust within fics – almost every other theme/trope on this list stems from trust.
Platonic Relationships – I love friendship. Gen fics are my jam. I’m always a sucker for platonic cuddling, hair ruffling, and just people being protective/supportive of each other. Hair ruffling and forehead kisses are like my ultimate weakness. There’s something about platonic casual affection that gets me every time. I also love friends feeling comfortable sharing their vulnerabilities and trusting each other.
Families of Choice/Found Family – This is pretty much my favorite trope of all time. People choosing to be each other’s families and just platonically loving each other is my favorite thing in the entire world.
Protective/Supportive Friends – I love friends defending each other and supporting each other no matter what. Characters finding, building, and accepting unconditional friendship is wonderful (especially if it’s something they’re not used to).
Communication – I really love this theme. People talking out their issues and trusting each other with their entire being, just gives me the all the feels. I especially love when people have to deal with their (and each other’s) insecurities and have to be vulnerable to each other.
Relationship Negotiation – I really love characters having to figure out their relationships (both platonic and romantic), especially when they have to navigate an uneven power dynamic (e.g. famous/not famous AU, class differences, etc.). This category can also include kink negotiation. I just really love characters talking to each other and being vulnerable with each other.
Emotional Hurt/Comfort – This goes hand-in-hand with my love of fics exploring healthy communication. I love the intimacy of emotional hurt/comfort and that it forces characters to trust and be vulnerable with each other.
Fandom Specific:
Honestly, if you cover any of the themes above, I’ll be delighted, but I’ve added specific information below for each of the fandoms I requested. They're in alphabetical order by fandom, not order of preference (if we’ve matched on multiple fandoms). Additionally, I’m writing this letter after watching way too much news/doomscrolling through twitter about USA politics, so if they’re a bit incoherent, that’s why.
Final Fantasy XV:
I should start this section off by saying that I’ve never played this game in my life. I’ve seen parts of it played online and the Prompto DLC in full, but my familiarity of the canon is almost solely on the Brotherhood anime and fandom osmosis on social media. That being said, I absolutely adore these characters! Because of my lack of canon knowledge, I generally prefer fics set pre-game if set in canon (but feel free to do an AU, I'm not that picky. I love FFXV for the character interactions, rather than any specific setting/plot).
My favorite character is Prompto, so do with that what you will! I love exploring the relationship between all the chocobros, especially how Prompto integrates himself into the established trio of Gladio, Noctis, and Ignis (especially considering his “non-royal” upbringing, including financial and class differences). This can also focus on his relationship with any one of Gladio, Noctis, and Ignis. I also would love a fic exploring Prompto gaining Gladio and/or Ignis’ trust after befriending Noctis.
I also really love fics that explore MT!Prompto.
I have no strong affiliation/feelings about any of the ships within the four chocobros, so feel free to include any (or none) of them in the background, but I’d like the focus to be on the platonic relationship(s) between them.

Julie and the Phantoms:
This show was a great quarantine watch! I love the themes of found family and friendship in the show (ofc).
One thing that I’d really love to see explored is the relationship between Ray and Reggie. I feel like I'm always on the lookout for content that explores what would happen if Ray knew the truth about the Phantoms. The show implies that Reggie’s homelife might not have been great and he spends a lot of time with the Ray (and Carlos) throughout the show, even though they can’t see/hear him. I’d love to read about a ghost reveal or development of a familial relationship between the two of them.
I love all the characters and the friendships between the teenagers. I’d be happy to have all of them get to know each other, explore what happens post-season 1, or deepening their friendships. I don’t have strong feelings about the ships, so feel free to include in the background (although, I’d like the fic to focus on platonic relationships between the characters).
I’d prefer that the boys stayed ghosts in whatever you create (rather than it being a Human AU or having some magic deus ex machina that makes them human again).
Schitt’s Creek:
I absolutely adore this show and all of the characters! I’d love to explore the class differences between the Roses and the people of Schitt’s Creek (in either an AU or canon-verse). I’d love to see them bonding as a family or friends. I’d especially love to explore what it’s like for the Rose’s to be surrounded by people who actually like them (rather than just their money, etc). Also, of course, I’d love to explore them bonding as a family (and continually learning what it means to be a family).
If you’re interested in writing David/Patrick, I think exploring their differences in people and strengths as a couple is really fun (especially when combined with any of the themes above!)
White Collar:
I haven’t watched this show in a while (probably since they took it off Netflix), but I tuned into this show almost every week when it was airing.
Like I mentioned above, I am obsessed with things that explore the concept of trust and this canon is ripe for it. I’d really love a fic exploring the trust and creation of trust between Peter and Neal (and Elizabeth). Not to mention having to navigate the power dynamics between Neal and those around him while he's on work release.

General Do Not Wants:
- Graphic Violence (I'’m okay with post-violence or exploring the consequences/healing after violence, but I’d prefer not to have to read/see graphic depictions of said violence).
- Unhappy Endings (Angst is fine, though)
- Asphyxiation/beheading/violent neck stuff
- Permanent Non-Canon Character Death (Characters who are dead in canon are fair game, though).
- PWP/porn-without-plot (This is the first time since I first started participating in exchanges that I haven’t just outright DNW’d all explicit sex, so please wield this power responsibly).
- Infidelity/cheating (I’m okay with poly, consensual non-monogamy, or rumors of cheating from an outside source (e.g. the media), though).

- Incest
- Underage
- Rape/Non-Con/Dub-Con
- Scat/Watersports/etc.: Tbh depictions of most bodily fluids are a bit squicky for me.
- Any act that draws blood (e.g. harsh caning, bloodplay)
- Fearplay/Gunplay
- Cannibalism/Vore
- Petplay
- Asphyxiation/Breathplay
- Humiliation/Degradation
